March 11: OPEN UP!

man-holding-key

“. . . These things says He who is holy, He who is true, ‘He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts,
and shuts and no one opens.'” (Revelation 3:7
)

1. Today I will live in the now! I will live in the now because I have Kingdom keys in my possession, and I am using them to unlock my true self – my heart – where the Kingdom of God dwells – releasing the life of God from my inner man into the world around me. My life is an open book to be read by all people to the glory of God!

2. Today I will move beyond my emotional walls – my self-imposed prison of defense mechanisms that I have developed for my natural survival. My realization that I am accepted in Christ, the Beloved, sets me free from the fear of rejection, and produces peace, poise and perfect self-confidence in my personal life.

3. Today I will communicate on a real level, speaking the truth in love. I will really listen to others when they speak, and I will hear the voice of their hearts. I will be touched with the feeling of someone else’s weaknesses, and will minister to them without being judgmental. My openness and truthfulness will set the captives free!

4. Today I will have a spirit of understanding – a heightened sense of awareness of my environment. Jesus is made wisdom unto me, and He gives me the sensibility of a sage, the language of the learned, and the temperament of a teacher. I am a helper and a mentor – an asset to those in my life.

5. Today my senses are sharp and keen, and the Word in my heart and mouth acts as a two-edged sword, cutting through the nonsense of pretentious religion. His word is like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces, and He will use me today to make a difference!

6. Today I will stop trying to defend myself, giving myself the permission to not have to always be right. I am a human being, capable of making mistakes, who has been made a partaker of the Divine Nature through Christ. I am righteous, but not perfect, so I can relax and be myself, accepting myself for who I am, and for Whose I am.

7. Today I will have an open mind and heart, prepared for whatever comes because God is on my side. Today I will be openly blessed, and today I will live in the now!

Father, help me to open up today. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Deeply profound, yet ‘DO-ably’ practical.  That’s how I describe Bishop Jim Swilley’s A YEAR IN THE NOW daily devotional.  Bishop Jim’s ‘easy to read’ style of communication, combined with his witty grouping together of words that start with the same letter, define this devotional as a delightful way to delve deeper into your divine destiny as a daily discipline.  Profound and practical, it’s the perfect proponent to promote your personal progress.
